Hans Schoutens and Franz-Viktor Kuhlmann have joined the editorial board of the Annales Mathematicae Silesianae which are published at the Mathematical Institute, University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland. All papers from the years up to the one before the current year are accessible online, free of charge. There are no article processing charges. The new editors hope to broaden the scope of this journal and in particular, make it a journal of choice for the valuation theory and commutative algebra community.
Please consider publishing in this journal!

SAD NEWS

With great sadness we have to inform you of the death of our colleague, collaborator and dear friend Murray Marshall. He suffered a heart attack on Wednesday, April 29, from which he did not recover. Murray passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015. He was 75 years old, but still very active in research and the supervision of graduate students until the end.

A short obituary together with information about the funeral on Tuesday, May 5, can be found here. And here you can find Murray's own web site.

In the year 2000 we honored Murray on occasion of his 60th birthday with a small conference which we called "Colloquiumfest". There were many limericks about Murray created on the occasion of the conference; they provide wonderful portraits of the great mathematician and friend we have now lost. This conference was the start of the Colloquiumfest series. It is very unfortunate that we were not able anymore to celebrate Murray's 75th birthday with a Colloquiumfest.

If anyone would like to write something about Murray, describing his mathematical work or sharing personal anecdotes, please send it to us and we will put it on the Valuation Theory Home Page. Here is a web page with the first contributions:

In Memoriam Murray Marshall

Two sessions in two different international conferences this summer have been dedicated to Murray's memory in recognition of his fundamental contributions to subjects such as Positive Polynomials, Sums of Squares and Moment Problems. See
