Coming Events 2002/2003

Friday, May 30, 2003, Room 208 ARTS
3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Professor John Martin
Department of Mathematics and Statistics

will talk on

The Alexander Polynomial via the Free Calculus

Abstract:
Knots K1 and K2 belong to the same knot type if there is an autohomeomorphism h in R3 such that h(K1)=K2. The Alexander polynomial, which is a polynomial invariant of knot type, will be presented from an algebraic point of view.

Join us for drinks at the Faculty Club after the talks.
