Professor John Martin
Department of Mathematics and Statistics
will talk on
The Alexander Polynomial via the Free Calculus
Abstract:
Knots K1 and K2 belong to the same knot type if
there is an autohomeomorphism h in R3 such that
h(K1)=K2. The Alexander polynomial, which is a
polynomial invariant of knot type, will be presented from an algebraic
point of view.
Join us for drinks at the Faculty Club after the talks.
