MODERATE EXERCISES-Trigonometric Identities and Solving Equations

(2) Solve each equation for x, where 0 x 2. (If you like, solve the equation for x in degrees, then convert your answers to radians.)

  1. tan x = 1
  2. 2 sin(x) + 1 = 0
  3. sqrt(3)tan(x) = 1
HINT: Try thinking backwards: for (a), you are asked: "What angle has a tan of 1"? If you can't think of the answer, check out a table of values for the trig functions, such as in the More Trig Functions section or in any geo-trig textbook.

To complete your solution, you should try to identify any other angles in the interval 0 <= x <= 2. Also, express the answers in radian measure.
