 Using the following diagram, prove the Pythagorean theorem:

SOLUTION:
Notice that the figure can be viewed in two ways:  as a smaller square inscribed in a 
larger square or as four right triangles.  Use this to make an equation:

	(a + b)2 - c2 = 4(1/2ab)
	
	a2 + 2ab + b2 - c2 = 2ab

	a2 + b2 - c2 = 0

	a2 + b2 = c2
