INTRODUCTORY EXERCISES-Symbol Manipulation

(6) Write each fraction as a sum or difference.

 (a) (sqrt(3))(x) - 6	Where "sqrt" means the square root of
     ----------------
        (SQRT 3)

 (b) 3 + x2
     --------
        3

 (c) 4x - 5x2 - 2x5
      --------------
            x2

 (d) 3t2 + 5t
     ---------
        2t3

HINT:

 For each question, recall that:
       ab + ac = ab + ac = b + c
      --------- ---- ---- --- ---
         ad ad ad d d

Also, for part (a) it is conventional to rationalize the expression when
you have a square root in the denominator. That is, to multiply both the
numerator and the denominator by the square root term so that the denominator
is no longer a square root term.
