INTRODUCTORY EXERCISES-Inequalities

(1) Solve the following linear inequalities.

 (a) 7x - 8 4x + 7

 (b) 3 - x 5(3 - x)

 (c) x
      --- 4
      -2

 (d) -3x - 5 2

 (e) 75 0.4t + 41.45 85

HINT: For each of these inequalities, try to solve as if the inequality were an equation, except remembering that multiplying or dividing both sides of an inequality by a negative number changes the direction of the inequality.

For question (e), try solving both inequalities at once. It is possible in this case.
