 (a) |2 + |3|(-2) + |4 - 7|| = |2 + 3(-2) + |-3|| = |2 - 6 + 3| = |-1| = 1

 (b) | - 4|  Since  is less than 4 
     we can write the answer as follows: 4 - 

 (c) | - 2|  Since  is less than 2 then we have:  2 - 

 (d) |1 - 18.125| - |-19.31| = |-17.125| - 19.31 = 17.125 - 19.31 = -2.185
